Need another way to stead deals around Seattle?  Well, consider your prayers answered.  Starting today, Uloop.com, an online marketplace aimed at college students across the country, is expanding it’s daily deal program to Seattle.  I may not know how all these coupon sites stay in business, but honestly, with so many ways to save, I’m not going to complain.

Uloop.com sounds especially promising because it targets college students, a niche population who is notoriously cheap to start with.  I may have graduated…  well, a while ago, but I certainly still appreciate a good deal.  Even better, Uloop’s initial Seattle deal is pretty fantastic- $10 for a $20 gift certificate to Guanaco’s Tacos Pupuseria.  In case you aren’t in the know, pupusas are magic pockets of ground corn deliciousness (basically, really fat homemade tortillas stuffed with all kinds of deliciousness, ranging from spicy pork and beans to a glorious, oozy combination of cheese.  Whatever filling you choose, you’ll be happy- trust me.  Or read this review by a Seattle food celebrity.  Either way, buy the coupon.

Seattle has a lot to brag about, but one of our favorite things about the city is the plethora of farmers markets that you can find around our fair city.  This weekend I was honored to write a guest post on one of my favorite blogs, Summer Tomato.  Summer Tomato is the brainchild of Darya Pinyo, a scientist/food-enthusiast who writes about nutrition and sensible good health with a special emphasis on the importance of local, farmer’s market produce.  (Evidently, you’re more likely to eat vegetables if they actually taste good- who’d have thunk?)

When Curio Confections, the U-District bakery that is easily my very favorite in the entire city, announced that it was closing several months ago, I almost cried.  Their adorable tartlets, drool-inducing pies and oh-my-god-this-is-the-best-thing-I’ve-ever-put-in-my-mouth chocolate chip cookies were always worth the extra gym time that that kind of indulgence requires.

So when Maria Friedman, the incredibly sweet (har har) proprietor, announced that Curio Confections was reopening this weekend, I audibly cheered.  (My pancreas may have wept a little).
