If you are trying to hide this weekend, I hate to break it to you, but you can’t. Not with so much going on. Seriously, it’s like summer puked all over this weekend with fun, shiny unicorns and fairs and music and food and who knows what else. So I won’t take up any more of your time. Let’s get to the weekend, shall we:
-Try to divert your eyes when you see that McD’s is promoting Dragon Fest 2012 in the ID—because minus the rather odd sponsorship, I can attest that this is a great event full of cool martial arts, dancing and dragons!
-Want to go to a big festival that hardly has any seafood? Well, then put on your Viking hat and make your way to Ballard’s Seafoodfest!
-Shakespeare in the Park is here! You don’t know how happy this makes me! If you can’t tell by the exclamation points I’M SO EXCITED TO GET MY PLAY ON!
-Like music, crafts, food and a view of Downtown? Head to West Seattle’s Summerfest.
-Someone just told me that the Kent Cornucopia Days is the largest festival in the US. Who knows if that’s true, but it’s free and it’s another festival—so there you go.
-Like bikes? Then go to Redmond for Redmond Derby Days. Food, beer, wine, carnival games, music, fireworks, a parade and a LOT of bicycle nerdery.
-Witness the spectacle that is Milk Carton Derby at Green Lake.
-If you’re so sick of the crowds you need a drink, then head to Bar Ferd’nand to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. Aerialist performers and live music will provide entertainment!
-Hungry yet? Head to Chow-Down in Chinatown for some yummy happy hours, food trucks and a good ol’ fashion beer garden.
-STILL hungry? Good thing it’s National Fry Day and Ivar’s is celebrating it big time with a free order for everyone. Today only!
-So you ate, drank and festivaled–you obviously need to stock your wine cabinet for future weekends. Good thing BevMo! is opening two new locations at Tacoma and Silverdale. Word on the street is the first 500 customers will get a free swag bag filled with Riedel wine glasses, mixers and yummy snacks. Doors open at 9am, you lush you.
-And finally, while it may cost you a few dollars I’ve heard such great things about DANCE this that I think everyone should come with me tonight.
-FREE YOGURT at Red Mango!!!!!!! Swing by the new Pike Place Red Mango location on Friday, July 13 between 5:00-8:00pm and get a FREE small yogurt with one topping (mochi, obviously), plus a FREE t-shirt if you’re one of the first 100 yogurt fanatics. They’re also giving away an iPad… but c’mon, isn’t FREE YOGURT wasn’t enough to alter your commute home?
-Ooooh- wanna tour the new Edible Food Forest in Beacon Hill? Then swing by the Jefferson Park Jubilee on Saturday, July 14. Lawn bowling, music, skateboard lessons and Samoan slap dancing!
-And don’t forget about all of the awesome Bastille Day celebrations all over town on Saturday!
-Just added- our friends at Seattle Pockets posted about a FREE Health Fair at Seattle Center this weekend. Great resource, especially if you don’t have insurance right now.
Whew! Hope you got through all that. Let us know what you did or if you found something equally awesome elsewhere. Follow us on Twitter, leave a comment below or like us on Facebook. Live it up, ya’ll!
