Giveaway: Win 5 FREE Classes at Sweat Hot Yoga

If different types of exercise were different types of people people, yoga would be that old friend you can instantly fall into a comfortable conversation with even though you’ve both been so busy for the last three months that you didn’t even know she moved across town last week. Sure, there may be other people who see more often, but nobody else instantly knows that what you really, really need right now is a milkshake and a marathon of The Shahs of Sunset (don’t judge me). That’s how I am with yoga- I flit around and spend a month of Fridays partying with Zumba, and then become obsessed with Crossfit and stop eating grains, but when my back is killing me and I can’t slip into the splits anymore, yoga is there waiting for me with a big hug and a sun salutation. I think we all need a little more yoga in our lives, so I’m absolutely thrilled to tell you about my experience with Sweat Hot Yoga in Fremont. I’m even more excited to tell you that we’re running a sweet giveaway with them- so read on to find out how you can win a voucher for 5 FREE classes at Sweat Hot Yoga!

I’m kind of like Goldilocks when it comes to yoga studios. Some are too hippie even for my taste- yeah, I want my chakras balanced but I want a workout too, so I don’t have time for a 30-minute Shavasana. But I’m also cursed with a wickedly poor sense of balance, so if the studio expects me to pop into a headstand 14 minutes in, I’m just going to hurt myself. What I’m looking for is a class that’s challenging, but accessible, led by a teacher who isn’t afraid to correct my form but has also heard of music that isn’t by Enya. I found all of those things and more at the Power Vinyasa class I took at Sweat Hot Yoga last week, and I wholeheartedly encourage you to check them out as well.

My class was led by Rebekah, the owner of Sweat Hot Yoga. She is obviously an expert but doesn’t take herself to seriously. I loved the way to accommodated the variety of skill levels present in the class, pushing some people to reach new positions and helping others progress at their own, slower pace. I took a Power Vinyasa class, but the studio also offers Hot Hatha and Intro classes, so you can find any skill and/or temperature level to match your needs.

Whether you’re a curious newbie, a skilled contortionist or a wandering yoga gypsy like myself, you owe it to yourself to head to Fremont and seek out Sweat Hot Yoga. (You can’t miss it- it shares an entrance with Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar, meaning you get to nosh right after class!) New students can try out their choice of unlimited classes for 2 weeks for just $30, so it’s an extremely affordable way to get your ohm on. But of course, you are a Yay-Today reader and therefore extra special, so you have the chance to win 5 FREE classes to Sweat Hot Yoga just by commenting or tweeting!

I need more (hot) yoga in my life because it is the only way I can keep my lower back in check. Without yoga it seizes up and I am left immobile, not fun!

  5. I need more yoga in my life, cause a girl’s gotta eat(!)to get her food blog off the ground, but she’s also gotta fit in her interview wardrobe to land her next gig. In Jan 2010 I completed a 30 day Hot Yoga challenge,(that’s 30 consecutive days of 105 degree Bikram style sweatin’) and it was the hardest physical challenge of my life, (I had been practicing consistently for about a year and a half prior to that) but I love the discipline and centering yoga brings & I looked better than ever. I’d love to hit the mat running again, but haven’t found my next studio (yet). Thanks yay_today!

I need more yoga, because it is sustains me- feeds me and clears my soul. I need more yoga- it is my way of life. I need more yoga classes as people inspire each other and their energies combined propel us to a higher being.

  7. Lea says:

I need more yoga in my life because I feel so much more connected with my self and with others when I do yoga in a studio. I find yoga to be a way of life, not just a spiritual or physical practice.

  8. Our radiant heat panels are hypoallergenic, silent and comfortable allowing the body to experience heat without feeling uncomfortable. Depending on the class, the temperature will be set anywhere between 85 and 103 degrees. We also have a large hvac system to keep the air fresh and never stale.
