Give it a Try: $2 classes all around Seattle

I went swimming the other day and was reminded how much I love it. Sure, there’s a crap ton of people right at your heel and you only have an hour to go, go, go and I’m almost always disoriented when I first get there – but besides all that, it truly is great (especially with this waterproof mp3 player). My favorite pool is now Greenlake’s Evans because of the hot hot hot sauna and the easy parking in the winter. But sometimes I wonder if a class would be better suited for me and my claustrophobia. And as luck would have it, the pool and the community centers have classes. Cheap classes.

Introducing the Try something new for only $2 program. From water aerobics to yoga, Zumba, karate, dance classes and more – there’s a plethora of classes you can try once for just $2. And these “Try it for $2” classes are all over Seattle! Plus, if you love the class so much you actually want to register for the rest of the program, you’ll receive a prorated amount. AND for those pool lovers, there’s a super awesome bonus just for you – existing water aerobic participants can get in FREE if you bring a buddy with them. Cool, right? Right!

And if you’ve never taken a class before, don’t fret. I can say from my water aerobic experience that they are kind of hysterical, in that you feel like you need blue hair to join – but honestly, they are a real workout. I totally commend those old folks for hovering on top of the water and moving their arms and legs this way and that for 45 minutes. No matter how old you are you’ll feel the burn and lose the calories. This coming from a girl who easily runs 20 miles a week, while reading a book, watching the Today show and eavesdropping on the every day gossip of my fellow gym members.

I’ve never taken any other classes at the community centers, but I hear they’re great fun and nice for people who don’t want to join a gym but still want to do something in the winter months.

So come on already. That ‘lose 10 lbs resolution’ ain’t gonna work itself out. Just find a community center or pool near you, pay the $2 and let us know how much fun it is!
