Weekend Round-Up: 12/22-12/25

Hey you! We’re rounding up the weekend’s activities a little early this week to give you some extra time to plan your distractions (and to give us some extra time to celebrate the holidays ourselves). So whether you’re lighting candles on your menorah (like Barrie), decorating the Christmas Palm Tree in California (like Aubrey) or singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas Y’all” (like our newest contributor, Alida), we wish you the most merry holiday weekend extravaganza ever. Here are some local goings on to help you finish your shopping, entertain visitors, or just avoid your crazy mother-in-law:

  • South Lake Union lights up the night at the Grand Finale Christmas Parade. Bring the whole family, grab a thermos of cider (spiked or otherwise) and enjoy the twinkly magic of the biggest boat parade around.
  • Seriously, I really like twinkly lights. If you do too, take a stroll through Ravenna’s Candy Cane Lane and witness some of the splashiest, Griswaldiest house decorations around.
  • Meh, I know that I said that Ugly Christmas sweater parties were kind of getting old, but if Skillet Diner is holding one, it’s worth coming by for the chicken and waffles alone. Grab your tackiest holiday-wear (and pick up some bacon jam while you’re there).
  • And if you need to get away after OD-ing on family time, Seattle Met has a great round-up of where you can damage your liver this weekend.

Please have a very merry holiday this year everybody (and talk to us about your merriment on Facebook, Twitter or in the comment section below)! We’ll be running a “best of” next week to give you a chance to check back on our greatest posts ever in the history of the world… or something like that, plus a guide to celebrating New Year’s Eve on the cheap. Huzzah! (Yeah, writing “Huzzah” is a sign that spiked egg nog is not an appropriate morning drink, even if it is technically in season.)
