Pizza for Parkas: Give a Coat, Get a Pie

I have an entire closet full of coats and jackets and I still can’t stop whining about the temperature- I can’t even imagine what it must be like for people who can’t afford my shopping addiction. But instead of making my seasonal trek to Goodwill or going to another clothing swap party, this week I’m giving some of my gently used jackets to my local pizza joint, Via Tribunali. Along with Pizzeria 22 in West Seattle and Cornuto in Phinney Ridge, all Via Tribunali locations are not only collecting coats for kids age 0-18, they’re giving you a delicious reward for your donation- a FREE pizza!

The great swap-a-roo, officially called Pizza for Parkas, runs through December 12. Just drop off new or gently used jackets in person at any of the participating pizzerias (Via Tribunali has locations in Queen Anne, Fremont, Georgetown and Capitol Hill) and you’ll get a coupon for a FREE margherita pizza (my favorite!) for each coat you bring. The goal is to collect a total of 200 coats that will then be donated to Atlantic Street Center, who will distribute them to kids across Seattle who need some serious winter gear.

So comb through your closet and see what you can part with. You’ll warm your spirit by doing something good, warm up some kids who deserve some love, and warm your belly with a delicious pizza. That’s a win-win-win deal.
