You already know that we are big fans of West Elm, especially since they opened a store here in Seattle. And since you trust our impeccable taste, you’ve headed to the South Lake Union store yourself and realized that West Elm is a great place to buy affordable holiday-themed tchochtkes to deck out your digs with the [insert your holiday of choice here] spirit. But this Thursday, West Elm gets even radder- they’re hosting a Handmade Holiday Workshop where you can give some love to the Ronald McDonald House, get a lesson in how to make your own holiday ornaments and do some shopping at their Etsy Mini-Market.
What? A store hosting an event that isn’t just a ploy to get you to buy more stuff from them? I know, it sounds weird. But that’s exactly what is happening this Thursday, December 1, from 6:00-9:00pm. Leave work a little early in the name of holiday giving (and, let’s face it, retail therapy) and go get crafty at West Elm. A local Etsy crafter will be on hand teaching you how to make something even cooler than the pine cone covered in glitter glue you made in kindergarten- then make an extra one to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. You can also bring presents or buy some from West Elm (yes, they even have toys- stylish ones at that) to donate to kids who seriously need some Christmas cheer.
Even better- there are snacks! Light refreshments will be served to all who participate. It’s like arts and crafts hour for grown-ups and it will help you get back on Santa’s “nice” list. Go, craft, snack and shop- do I really need to tell you again how cool this is going to be?
Here’s a list of the super-cool Etsy vendors who will be on hand selling their goods:
· Simply Hue Designs(Art Prints)
· Elisabeth Space (Jewelry)
· Uzura (Eco-Friendly Clothing/Bags)
· sidney ann (Accessories)
· Manzanita Kids (Wood Toys)
