Weekend Round-Up: November 18-20

Have you heard the whispers? Snow. They say it’s going to snow. Just the possibility of weekend snow means it’s time to make some popcorn and cocoa and watch your friends on Facebook and Twitter FLIP OUT. You have other options, of course. Maybe you could finish painting your bedroom. Maybe you’re tired of seeing one blue wall and one mauve wall. Perhaps you need to organize your closet and do a Goodwill run. And probably you should clean out your fridge. Or, if you are me, you will spend the weekend avoiding all of those things and drinking wine instead.

Let’s do this:

-Ballard Writers’ Book Slam¬†features 22 authors reading for 3 minutes apiece. A literary smorgasbord of wordy deliciousness.

-Do you like bagels? Do you like FREE bagels? Then go to Ken’s Market in Queen Anne on Saturday because they’ll be giving away 1,000 free bagels. Carb heaven, y’all.

-Get your holiday shopping started early and buy many books. Proceeds support The Seattle Public Library.

-If that predicted snow turns out to just be more rain, Community Orchard of West Seattle will teach you how to harvest all that rainwater.

-Want to sweeten up your weekend? Head over to Chocolopolis for a free tasting event. Meet Kathryn Taylor of Kathryn Taylor Chocolates and sample her tasty treats.

-Mindy Kaling (of The Office) will be at University Book Store in the U-District to sign copies of her new book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns). Signing tickets available by purchasing a copy of her book from University Book Store. 2pm, Saturday.

-Speaking of Mindy, she’ll be joining Rainn Wilson on Saturday night at The Paramount for Rainn Wilson and Friends, an evening benefitting the Mona Foundation. This event is a bit more spendy but for a very good cause.

Finally, we have a couple spirit-filled events to help warm you up this weekend.

-If you’re feeling classy, you can hit up Seattle Urban Wineries for their Holiday Open House. 18 wineries. 2 days. Free wine. You can do it.

-Feeling a bit more low-brow? Not to fear! The 2011 Turkey Crawl is this weekend. $25 buys you 6 drinks at 6 bars. Bring your canned goods!

There’s plenty to keep you toasty and busy this weekend, Seattle. Comment,¬†Facebook, and Twitter. Don’t freeze, y’all!
