If you aren’t feeling a little somber after this weekend’s weather, then you must have a far superior buildup of Vitamin D in your bloodstream than I. Consider yourself lucky. But if this odd time of year, when the grey drizzle is out in full force but the twinkly holiday lights haven’t quite yet popped up all over the city, has you down, let me turn you on to a FREE place where you can go to get your cheer restored: the Chrystanthemum Display at the Volunteer Park Conservatory.
Sure, your garden may be in the final stages of succumbing to the frosty air, but the Volunteer Park Conservatory remains a bastion of summery goodness year-round. And right now they’ve got something extra-special going on, so you have even more reason to work a jaunt around the park into your schedule some time this month between 10:00am and 4:00pm. From now until November 27, the Seasonal House is hosting their annual Chrysanthemum Display, which means that the eternally warm Conservatory is bursting at the seams with bright explosions of sunny blooms. Pack a sandwich, grab a friend (or somebody you just want to get to know better) and you’ve got the makings of a truly lovely afternoon. Well, either that or it’s a great place to go sit and plan the tropical vacation you’re taking in February.
