Ghostride the Vote: Make Sense of Your Ballot at Moe Bar

November’s rapid approach doesn’t just mean that it’s time to dig out your stretchy Thanksgiving pants- it also means that you have to do your duty as a good citizen and vote. And while I know that you absolutely intend to do your civic duty in a timely manner this year, I also know that sometimes you don’t actually get around to mailing your ballot in. Life gets busy, the initiatives are confusing, and this season of The Walking Dead is really, really compelling. But before you give up, let me tell you about Ghostride the Vote, a ballot party happening this Thursday night at Moe Bar. If the promise of alcohol and community doesn’t peak your interest, then I don’t know what will.

I’ve never heard of a ballot party before, but now that I have, I think every city should have them. Presented by Seattlest and The Washington Bus, Ghostride the Vote invites curious citizens to come, have a drink and fill out their ballots together. Confused about the issues? Unfamiliar with the candidates? Ghostride the Vote is the perfect opportunity to talk things out with fellow voters. Heck, you might even learn something from the Washington Bus volunteers, who probably know a lot more about what’s happening than you do. (And no, don’t worry, Washington Bus is an organization that strives to get people voting, not to sway them to vote one way or the other. We live in the age of smartphones people- if you suspect something you hear is incorrect, somebody in the room can just as Siri for clarification.)

So this Thursday, grab your ballot (and your ID- this event is 21+ only) and head to Moe Bar. The fun lasts from 5:30 – 9:00pm. And what better way to speak your mind on I-1183 than to vote on it in a bar?
