Dolce Vita: 33% off to NYC

Have you been to Dolce Vita in Ballard? Probably not. It’s that big store with all the windows and clothes that scream YOU CAN’T AFFORD ME. Except, you would be surprised. Some of their clothes are actually surprisingly reasonable. Don’t expect Value Village prices, but it’s a good place to buy one coveted piece that you can wear with everything – like a mini dress for the Summer that you could easily transition into Fall with a pair of Target tights and Old Navy jacket. Sure the fancy Dolce Vita dress might cost you $100+, but you can bet your duct tape wallet it won’t fall apart in the laundry like some shitty inexpensive H&M item.

The Ballard store had pieces that were timeless, not overly trendy. I loved their lack of flannel and 80s bright tees. And while I constantly oogled at their perfectly clothed mannequins, contemplating what I would buy if I won the lotto and was more frivolous with my money, I only went in once (and didn’t buy anything). Now, I have a reason to go again (and maybe buy something).

Dolce Vita will be closing their Ballard doors at the end of the month. Not for the reasons I thought though (yet another boutique in the midst of an economic fail), but because they’ll be closing all their stores to focus more on their NYC shop. During the month they’ll be doing a weird 33% off all their merchandise. Don’t ask me why it’s just 33%, but whatever I’ll take it and go shopping and hopefully score something pretty with all that 33% I saved. Long live the weirdo sales and goodbye to a place that didn’t scream hipster. Your big windows and lovely clothes will be missed.
