It may be getting a wee bit chillier out there, but Seattle’s social calendar doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. Nothing makes the transition to fall easier than a weekend brimming with free, fabulous events. I’m extra stoked because it’s the first weekend in who knows how long that I will actually have time to check out some of the things I’m writing about today. Now, if only the work day would get over with already…

- Us Seattlites like to read, that’s why we throw weekend-long parties for books. Venture to Kirkland for the Northwest Book Festival Saturday and Sunday, for music, writers’ workshops, food from over a dozen vendors and celebrity authors. You can probably get some good deals on books as well.
- The Northwest Tea Festival is happening as well this weekend. Head to Seattle Center for samples, classes and hard-to-find tea varieties. You’ll need to stock up on the official comfort beverage of winter.
- Saturday is National Vegetarian Day. To celebrate, The Counter in Ballard is giving out FREE veggie burger sliders with any burger purchase. (As somebody who was a vegetarian for the first 25 years of my life and who hates Boca burgers with a passion, The Counter’s veggie patties get my official seal of approval.)
- Also in the realm of cheap food, Ivars at Mukilteo Landing is celebrating the launch of the Boeing 787 with special prices on entrees and cocktails. You guessed it, you can get a Salmon BLT or a Takeoff Tini for just $7.87. Go take your engineer uncle there for dinner! (Promotion runs through Oct. 7.)
- BrickCon is happening this weekend. I highly recommend checking out this Lego festival if you love Legos or just love watching grown adults get back in touch with their inner children. It’s pretty amazing.
- Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, really speaks to my soul because it’s all about shiny things. The Seattle Asian Art Museum is hosting a FREE Diwali celebration for the whole family at Volunteer Park on Saturday. See some art, have some fun, get some henna.
- The Mobile Chowdown is back and this time it’s in West Seattle. Brave the lines for some delicious eats.
- Decibel Festival lasts through the weekend. Get out and dance Seattle! Tickets range from $8 (yay!) to $30 (eh, not the end of the world). (But seriously Seattle, please do dance.)
That’s one heck of a Weekend Round-Up, right? So go do stuff. Then tell us what you did in the comment section below, over on our Facebook wall (which you really should like) or on twitter. Oh, and if you have a hard time remembering to check Yay-Today every day, why not sign up for our newsletter over there on the right hand side? Something tells me that some special perks for subscribers will be coming up fairly soon.
