GIVEAWAY: Spend the Night with Richie Aldente

In Seattle, there is only one thing that gets us more excited than beautiful, sunny weather (like the kind we had this past weekend- bliss), and that’s the music. I mean, one of the biggest reasons to live here is because of the sheer multitude of amazing shows happening every week throughout the city. You never have to wait long for your favorite artist to come perform, and finding a new-to-you musical obsession is NEVER a challenge. In fact, I’ll make it even easier than usual- this week we’re giving away dinner, car service and free tickets to a show this Thursday, August 25th at Neumos featuring State of the Artist, Theoretics, Hi-Lo Sound System and my new musical crush, Richie Aldente.

New on the Seattle music scene, Richie Aldente puts a smooth ironic Northwest spin on 90s r&b. Their most popular song, Cougar Hunt, is not only dear to my heart because I come from where Cougars originated (no, I’m not a WASU alum, I’m from Orange County), but because it has my freaking name in it! (My name is Aubrey- you don’t run into that very often unless you’re a diehard Bread fan, like my dad.) Cougar Hunt, like the rest of Richie’s new album, For the Ladies, is the perfect musical cure to Seattle’s general dance-phobia. You’ll be so busy laughing and shaking your ass that you won’t even have time to get all self-conscious and stiff.

Want to check out Richie Aldente in person? Go to Neumos this Thursdays and see them perform live. Or even better, tell us on the comment section about the best show you’ve been to in Seattle. On Wednesday morning we will pick a random winner to receive 2 FREE tickets to Neumos, a $20 gift certificate to Big Mario’s pizza and 2 $10 gift certificates for Crown Black Car, so you don’t even have to worry about parking (or sketchy late-night bus rides). Intrigued by the musical stylings of Richie Aldente? Even if you don’t win, tickets are only $12, so even you can afford to see them live.

The last time I saw Head Like a Kite at Neumos: Dave was dressed like the pink Teletubby, a panda was dancing on stage, and I think some burlesque ladies were there. It was awesome.

a tie between raphael saadiq at the market and aloe blacc at nectar. that’s how concerts are suppose to feel like – make you feel every emotion and all the energy the artists are conveying. i absolutely fell in love at those shows!

  11. Keridwyn says:

Hands down, my favorite concert in Seattle was MIKA at the Moore!

  12. Chris says:

The Crocodile and Nuemos are the best for small shows, Head and the Heart at the Crocodile, Head Like a Kite (I like head, apparently) at the Croc too, and Miike Snow at the Showbox SODO…all phenominal.
