We’ve been scouring the city for over a year now for giveaways, deals and freebies for our readers. Now it’s our turn- yup, yay-today actually gets to enter a contest. (See how up-front we are? Hopefully our honesty inspires you to root for us.) Here’s the dealeo: we’re going to post some of our fave places and then Miss Aubrey is gonna tweet about them all the live long day. How can you help? Go on Twitter, say how much you love us and include the hashtag #CityScoop AND mention @GiltCitySeattle. Example: “Yay-Today is the best Seattle blog #CityScoop @GiltCitySeattle”. If we get enough votes, we win money that we will probably spend on drinks somewhere fancy. Yay!
By the way- if you want to get instant access to some of the coolest discounts in the city, use this link to get yourself a free VIP membership to Gilt City Seattle. This isn’t another mass-consumer daily deals warehouse that will flood your inbox with 10 random “deals” for botox in Renton- Gilt City Seattle is curated by Seattle insiders who only make deals with places you want to check out anyway, but at half the price. And they don’t sell more than the business can handle, so you can actually use what you buy- yesterday’s $30 chef’s dinner to RN74, where I’m literally DYING to eat at, sold out in an hour!
Okay, now that we got that out of the way here are just some of our favorite places, deals and freebies:
-The newest food thing I really want to try out is Patty Pan’s Humble Feast Dinner. $10 gets you a buffet of vegan or omniverous yumminess. And if it’s anything like her Ballard Farmer’s Market eats then I consider the small price an excellent deal for dinner.
-One of my favorite places in all of Seattle is well-hidden and running around with naked ladies. No, it’s not a Deva Vu. It’s the uber cheap and relaxing Hot House Spa.
-Want to avoid circling around downtown for the perfect parking spot? Sick of spending $100 on gas? Well, take the bus! It’s probably the best bus system I’ve ever been on and right now they need your help. Go to Burien this Thursday and give those budget cutters a piece of your mind.
-I didn’t just buy one pair of totally awesome summer-y yellow sunglasses for $8 at Red Light Vintage Clothing. I bought two and made Miss Aubrey buy two as well.
-The reason I’ll never buy a Nook/Kindle: Because the library has FREE books, DVDs, CDs and the views are to die for. Long live the hardback. (Added by Aubrey: they have FREE ebooks too, in case you aren’t afraid of a little technology.)
- Joule’s Urban BBQ series is not only delicious, it’s a steal. $20 per person for some of the best, most innovative food in the city? We went for Korean BBQ last night and I’m STILL full of kimchi deliciousness.
- The cherry truck on the corner of McGraw and Queen Anne Blvd in Upper Queen Anne. This is not a fancy food truck. It’s just a truck with a cardboard sign that parks in the Pizza Hut Parking Lot on weekends during cherry season and sells me yummy, fresh organic cherries for $3.50 a pound (or $6 for 2!).
- Discovery Park. There are a lot of great parks in Seattle (seriously, it still blows my mind), but every time I go for a run (or a berry foraging run) in Discovery Park, I am totally blown away by how awesome my life is because I live less than 3 miles away from somewhere that feels like a whole other world.
Okay, so in case you need another nudge here it is: Head to our Twitter page and say something awesome like: “Yay-Today is my free Seattle source #CityScoop @GiltCitySeattle.” If we win, we’ll pick an awesome place for happy hour and post all about it. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
