Solstice has passed, but that means that summer is just (barely) getting started. We may not be experiencing a heatwave, but I still think you should do your civic duty as a Seattlite this weekend and get outside, eat and drink delicious things, and bare your legs just in case the temperature passes 65 degrees. Here are some weekend events where we think you should do just that:

- Take a long lunch today and go see The Maldives play a FREE concert at the Harbor Steps.
- I scream, you scream, we all scream for… Snoqualmie Ice Cream. That’s right folks, journey outside of city limits and enjoy some FREE ice cream at Snoqualmie Ice Cream Fest. Along with ice cream, they’re also dishing up free hot dogs, factory tours & music courtesy of Caspar Babypants. You won’t even notice that you’re wearing a jacket while you eat it.
- Embrace your inner nerd at the Happy Go Techy Festival on Saturday, June 25. See everything from the latest and greatest tablet technology to the cutest lil’ iPhone cases you can imagine. Tickets are free (there is a suggested $5 donation to a local charity) and your nerdy significant other won’t hate you for dragging him/her there.
- Sunday is the Seattle Gay Pride Parade. Go share the love (and the excellent costumery) all over Capitol Hill.
- End your weekend with some of Seattle’s finest street food. The Tako Truk is back, and this time it’s parked at Madison Park Conservatory, so there will be booze. Cocoa Piggie tacos plus spiked green juice? Yes please! (Read more about it on Seattlest.com)
Where else can you find a weekend with takos, marching drag queens and a semi-dorky tech convention? Seattle,
sometimes I really do love you.
