My name is Aubrey and I’m a spa whore. I’ll admit it. When people ask me how my February trip to Thailand was, I immediately answer “It was amazing I got an hour long massage every day for $8,” and that’s only IF I decide to let them finish the question. My dream house plans involve multiple saunas and a robot that rubs knots out of my back without ever getting tired. When I was in college and too broke to afford fancy facial treatments, I volunteered as a demo model for students, which sometimes involved me being the guinea pig for 19-year-olds learning about electrolysis.
Thankfully, now I’m older and can afford to pay for my hair removal needs, but that doesn’t mean that I’m ever going to pass up a deal when one comes along. That’s why I get so excited about Spa Week, which is scheduled to hit Seattle April 11th-17th!
Spa Week is to pampering as Restaurant Week is to calorie consumption, and that’s a good thing. (Bonus: it doesn’t make your ass bigger!) Participating spas offer a special menu of treatments for only $50 a pop. Sure, that is a little more expensive than the massages I had in Thailand, but hey, this is America, and spas here have higher operating costs, like plumbing that can deal with us putting actual toilet paper IN the toilets.
One tip: make your reservations NOW, because this fills up fast. My personal picks would be Habitude in Ballard, which is offering a 45 minute Salt Glow Scrub with a Spa Scalp Revitalizer (I don’t know what that means, but I’m imagining shiny hair and super smooth skin), or any of the treatments (Stress Melter Massage, Facial or 60 minute Pedicure) from the Red Door Spa by Elizabeth Arden. (Find the Red Door Spa at The Shops at the Bravern in Bellevue, which is basically the closest thing to Rodeo Drive that we have in Washington State.)
