Here at yay-today, we love us some artsy-fartsy museum time. That’s probably why First Thursdays are practically our version of church. But now, thanks to Google’s latest little stroke of genius, Art Project, you can virtually visit some of the greatest museums in the world for FREE whenever you want (like, when you’re on a 3 hour conference call).
Google Art Project currently features more than 15 world-famous museums for you to explore at your leisure. Zoom in on super hi-res images of works of art that people travel across the world to see, use Street View to explore the museum from the inside out, and select your favorite works to create your own virtual greatest hits collection. It’s a way better investment of your time than checking facebook (unless you’re leaving a comment on the yay-today wall, of course) or reading Perez Hilton for the 34th time today.
Maybe it’s not the month-long trek across Europe that you’ve been dreaming of, but Art Project is definitely worth adding to your bookmarks. And hey, if you really want to get into the spirit, pour yourself a glass of wine and eat some fancy cheese while you surf the internet.
