Raise your hand if you like any of the following:
If you are staring at your monitor with your arm raised, I need you to do two things: first, put your arm down because people will think you’re crazy. Second, make plans to head to West Seattle tonight and participate in Word Up, the weekly Scrabble Tournament held at the Skylark Cafe.
Every Monday at 7:00 pm, the Skylark transforms from a low-key local music venue to the scene of the greatest mental battles of our generation (okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration). For the low entry fee of $5, you are compete in 3 45 minute, 2 person games. All the money raised goes to a good cause (Team Tracey, Furry Faces, Community Harvest of Southwest Seattle and Books to Prisoners take turns receiving proceeds), and winners get prizes!
So if Monday isn’t treating you right, there’s no better way to unwind than with a nice, altruistic game of Scrabble. Mark your calendars!
Hi Aubrey,
Thanks for the shout-out, but January has an extra Monday in it and we only have 4 charities doing the monthly Scrabble thing. Tonight is thus a one-off karaoke night. Next week Scrabble returns with entry fees benefiting Books To Prisoners…see you then?

Oye- I’m updating the post and I’ll repost next Monday. I DEFINITELY want to make it down for one of these very soon though. I feel like my Words With Friends addiction is actually hurting my Scrabble skills. (Plus, we LOVE the Skylark!)
