Some days, you wake up craving conversation and intellectual stimulation. Other days, you just want to laugh at something that doesn’t make you use your brain AT ALL. And some days you want a little of both.
Well, no matter which side of the mental bed you woke up on today, we’ve got you covered.
If you’re jonesing for some history the way a fat kid loves candy, then head to Roy Street Coffee and Tea tonight at 7:00 pm for the “History of Your ‘Hood” discussion sponsored by KCET 9 and the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). Tonight they’ll be digging into the history of Capitol Hill, so if you’ve ever wondered what was going on there before ironic facial hair and really tight pants came back into vogue, this is your change to relive the past. Many of these History Cafes featuring other neighborhoods are taped and available for viewing online, so you can get a taste of what’s to come.
If digging into the annals of local history isn’t your thing, then you should still go to Capitol Hill tonight- just make your way straight to Central Cinema, where they’re hosting a House Party Quote-Along. $9 gets you admission to the movie, a live performance by Mash Hall, the option to join in on the New Jack Swing dance party or the 90s Gear costume contest, and FREE Red Kool-Aid. That’s what I call a night’s entertainment.
So there you go. Whether you’re going to be sipping a glass of wine and geeking out on our city’s fascinating past, or wearing your best day-glo track suit and doing the Running Man, your Thursday is guaranteed to be entertaining.
