2010, we hardly knew you. Or at least it felt that way. Whether 2010 made your personal “Top 10 Best Years Ever” list or not, it’s coming to an end tomorrow at midnight. And while some people may want to celebrate by forking over hundreds of dollars to attend a fancy party with a bunch of gyrating strangers, we’re celebrating yay-today style- good friends, lots of food, and some cheap bubbly. In honor of 2010 coming to an end, here is a list of yay-today approved New Year’s Eve festivities going on Friday night:

- We already know that the folks over at Capitol Hill Blog know how to party, but now I love them even more because they made this awesome list of cheap and free New Year’s Eve parties over on the Hill. It looks like The Garage and The Capitol Club are the places to be if free champagne at midnight is your idea of a good time. (It is for me!)
- Central District is another great hub for cheap and fun ways to ring in the New Year. Central District News lists some pretty awesome ideas, including a Footloose “Dance your Ass Off” party at Central Cinema. Embrace your inner Kevin Bacon and get your groove on!
- Over on another hill, here’s a great guide for places to check out fireworks at the Space Needle that will be marking the dawn of 2011!
- If you want to get an early start to your New Year’s Eve imbibing (or if you know you can’t rally til midnight), head over to South Lake Union and celebrate at midnight Irish Time (that’s 4:00 pm in Seattle) at Paddy Coyne’s.
- Want more FREE champagne? It will be flowing at midnight at all of the Seattle Ale Houses (Columbia City, Queen Anne and Greenwood locations.)
- Finally, if you survive Friday night sans an excruciating hangover, why not make 2011 a year to remember by joining other daredevils and participating in the Polar Bear Plunge in Golden Gardens? (Or if you aren’t so brave, just head over and marvel at the crazy people who can brave the waters.)
So that’s our list for the moment. We hope everybody out there has an amazing New Year’s Eve with just the right amount of too much champagne. We’ll be back with more posts, more freebies, more awesome discoveries and other fun stuff on Monday!
