An Etsy feature: Sugar and Salt Kitchen

Now that the holidays are officially over, you should be sick and tired of candies and cookies and sweets by now, right? Wrong. Who gets sick of delicious treats?! Especially when they come from West Seattle’s very own Sugar and Salt Kitchen.

Started a lot like many Etsy shops these days, John was laid off from his job at The Essential Bakery and needed a way to earn a living. That’s when he noticed that The Swinery was offering an apprenticeship and lucky for him, he snagged the position and a coveted place to start selling his own yummy baked goods.

And boy oh boy. John makes everything from bacon caramel to evil chocolate brownies to homemade joys with almonds. But there is definitely a trend in the bacon arena which seems to fit perfectly with The Swinery crowd (you can even buy some of their goodies there!). With bacon chocolate chip cookies, bacon shortbread and bacon pecan brittle on the rotating etsy shop menu, if you’re a bacon lover then this is the Etsy shop for you.

Not limiting themselves to just sweets, John has plans to broaden his Etsy horizons. But for now him and his wife, Lil (the “salt” of the operation) are enthusiastic and hopeful that everyone in Seattle will come to know and love Sugar and Salt Kitchen. And at under $10 for almost every treat, we totally think they’re a steal – so start stocking up on those bacony chocolatey goodies now before all those resolutions of going to the gym and losing the holiday 10 pounds kick in. Heck, buy from their shop even after you buy that treadmill, because we know you’re weak and will just use it as a coat rack anyway ;-)
