Weekend Round-Up: Thanksgiving 2010 edition

Well, it looks like we’re going to be able to dig ourselves out of the snow just in time for Thanksgiving (more thanks to the mercy of Mother Nature than the city’s much boasted about improved ability to deal with snow).  Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorite holidays of the year, partly because it’s about food, family and being thankful, partly because it’s NOT exclusive to any one belief system, and partly because it means I get a 4 day weekend.  Wahoo!

Yay-today will be taking a long weekend as well, so to tide you over til Monday, here’s the Weekend Round-Up, Thanksgiving edition!

  • Burn off some of your feasting calories Thursday morning at the 2010 Seattle Turkey Trot.  It takes place at Golden Gardens and benefits the Ballard Food Bank.
  • Capitol Hill Seattle has a great round-up of volunteer opportunities on the Hill this year.  Do some good before you stuff your face.
  • Once you’re done eating, it’s time to start shopping.  Seattle Met has an awesome interactive map of Black Friday Sales around the city.  Find a great deal?  Tell us about it.
  • In the market for some pre-fab Swedish furniture? Ikea is giving away FREE breakfast with the purchase of any coffee.  (Last time they gave away free meatballs, my husband tried to sell it as a great idea for date night.  sigh.)
  • And if you aren’t cold enough already or need some extra fuel for your Black Friday shopping, 7-11 is giving away FREE Slurpees if you bring in this coupon.
