The universe is telling you to ditch work this Thursday, November 11. First, it’s Veterans Day, which actually got treated like a real holiday once upon a time. Second, in honor of Veterans Day, it’s Free Entrance Day at National Parks all across the country, and one of the best things about living in Seattle is the fact that you are soooo close to a plethora of amazing National Parks, like Mount Rainer, Olympic National Forest and North Cascades National Park. Third, the weather app on my phone just changed Thursday’s forecast from rain to mere clouds, so you really have no excuses not to ditch work and enjoy some nature.
So make some time to commune with nature. Block off your work calendar, start practicing your best “I’m coming down with something” fake cough, and drive an hour to Mt. Ranier, where you can play with marmots, dodge grizzly bears and go on a hike in the snow while it still seems like a good thing, and not some terrible act of God that promises to bring the city to it’s knees come December.
