Around the World in 80 Bites

Short Story: Joule’s Urban BBQ Series lets you eat fancy food from a different country every week, and it’s a LOT cheaper than a plane ticket.

Joule is a friendly, unpretentious looking restaurant located in Wallingford, that packs serious culinary punch- husband and wife kitchen maestros Seif and Rachel and their Korean-Euro fusion cuisine have competed on Iron Chef America.  Even though it gets a $$$ rating on Yelp, you can still eat their food without going broke- just make sure to time it right and come out to one of their special Sunday Urban BBQ suppers this summer.

Each Sunday evening this summer Joule features a special menu highlighting a different international cuisine.  For only $18- that’s less than the cost of one of their usual entrees- you choose from a variety of hot dishes and all-you-can-eat cold sides.  We checked out their Brazilian night this past weekend and were blown away.

The coconut corn bread, roasted potatoes and kale and polenta fries with homemade banana ketchup made my tummy sing.  But the real star of the evening was the generous platter of grilled meat that made every carnivore in the restaurant coo with delight.

The Urban BBQ series ends August 22, so make reservations now!
